It is all very exciting when a plan comes together. What started as "do you think we could do this?" to "The programme is now available Wendy" has been amazing. With the help of many we have two great speakers. Gill Chamberlain and Pete Lawrence and then myself all hoping to inspire you on firstly garden design, me on arranging fabulous flowers and Pete on using what you grow on your allotment. There will be tea and cake for those attending in the afternoon and at 6.30 prior to Pete speaking we shall be serving canapés and a glass of wine to keep you going.
So why are we holding this afternoon - simple really - Lavenham is in the throws of trying to find funding for a new
Pre-School, which is going to be built on to our really lovely Village Hall. Sue - the manager of Lavenham Village Hall - and Katherine who is the leader of Lavenham Pre School are taking on a huge project and need all the help they can get. £400,000 is the target. Gaye and Barbara the ladies who organise Lavenham's Hidden Gardens came up with the idea of possibly organising something the day before, maybe a floral demonstration and a talk and hey presto it has grown into what will be a really informative and fun afternoon and early evening.
Tickets will be available from:
Lavenham Tourist Information Centre, 01787 248207, Lavenham Village Hall 01787 248599
or me Wendy B on 07779 017923 or you can find me at 1, Mayes Farm, The Common, Lavenham (bottom of Water
Street)
WE WILL LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU AND THANK YOU FROM US ALL IN ADVANCE
We have had some sponsorship from our local business community: those to be named so far are The Swan Hotel, Lavenham, for running and providing the prizes for the Pre-School Art Competition - the children were asked to do a drawing of a Hidden Garden Treasure. to be displayed over the weekend of Arts Festival. Cannot wait to see the winners, although I am sure all the pictures will be fabulous. Number Ten/The Cock Horse for providing a voucher for one of our lovely speakers, who is giving their time completely free of charge. Jonathan and Ruby Hill at The Priory for accommodating our speaker Pete Lawrence who is making the long journey across to Suffolk and is really looking forward to viewing Lavenham's Hidden Gardens on Sunday.
There is still time Lavenham Businesses to help - we are hoping to run a raffle, so any donations of prizes would be great.
