As many people are returning from their holidays, thoughts are moving toward not only the event at the end of the year - I am not going to mention that yet, but it involves a man in a red suit and white beard - but also the new year and events to come, and there has been a flurry of activity to meet with brides and grooms and their families to discuss their wedding plans. I get very excited when a bride arrives with a folder, but equally so when a certain app on their mobile phone reveals beautiful images of venues, bouquets and dresses.
My top tips on discussing flowers is to find out from your florist what is seasonally available when you are getting married. There might be some choices that could just be available, but they might be a costly option. If there is a re-cycling option for an arrangement as in if a ceremony table display could be used for the top table. Similarly pew ends in a church, could they be moved to add to chair backs (I would only suggest this if the flowers are going to stay well hydrated) Do not rule out beautiful satin ribbon. It can look amazing.
Gill, Anne and me are going to enjoy providing arrangements for some lovely couples and their families next year. Cannot wait to meet the next bride and groom in a few weeks. I shall be talking all things flowery again which is not a bad way to spend a morning.
